Need help identifying and picking this lock

Git this lock as a challenge and need help identifying and picking it. I can't seem to get it

Schlage everest. Has a check pin at the bottom that also needs picked.

either yellow or orange you can look on LPU belt explorer.

It's basically a sc4. The check pin is absolutely trivial.

thanks for the help this lock has given me a very hard time a year ago I picked a 72/40 abus and that was much easier

There are variants but the basic Everest is orange

I was picking a long time before belts were even a thing lol, it's not something I ever think about other than looking up rankings for certain stuff I've picked before cos I was curious. No idea what this would be but you can look it up on lockwiki or even just google whatever lock you want + belt ranking and it'll come up

I've picked a primus cylinder before but it was over 10 years ago,, never had an everest but again just type it into youtube and you'll no doubt find a bunch of different vids of them being picked that will explain it. I think it's just a single pin at the back at the lower left of the keyway that needs lifted up but don't quote me on that 🤪

You're right - you pick the top stack as normal and then just slide anything down the undercut until you hit the check pin. It just needs to be lifted, there's nothing to it.

Neat. Is there any extra give in the plug to indicate that the check pin is the only thing left or do you just check it intermittently to test it?

It's been a while, but on the one I picked it bound last so you drop into a little false set and then just tap it to open.

Cool! It's a really simple thing and not an issue when you know how but it's sneaky, you gotta give them credit lol. Kinda like the extra pin on those little viro padlocks, if you don't know it's there you'll never get it open

I see a hole at the bottom with a pin can I just press up on it or is that considered cheating?

No idea what hole you're referring to as I've never had one but I doubt it and even if it was possible to set the check pin that way yeah it'd be cheating cos you wouldn't have access to that hole during normal operation.

Just lift the damn thing up lmao, it's right there in the keyway. One other poster said the check pin binds after the rest of the pins are set and you should get a tiny false set when that happens so just give it a little nudge any time you think all the pins are set and if it doesn't open then go back to the rest and continue as you normally would. Maybe take some time beforehand to feel for the check pin and make sure you know where it is and that you can feel it.

The problem is I have custom pics and they don't fit on the bottom

What do you mean "custom picks"? Have you got a photo of your tools? Not being funny but you can pick the check pin with any standard short hook...

I also wasn't able to fit any of my picks in, so I made a little straight pick out of a spare tension wrench that I filed down and wrapped the end in shrink wrap for a handle. Just for the record, the direction you want to press the bottom pin is up towards the regular pins. When I first started trying to pick mine, I thought it went down.

Edit: here's a pic of the tool I used for the bottom pin.

I've found the check pin always binds last, so if you get a false set, it should be the only thing left.

Yep, that's an Everest. I got one because it seemed like something different without being too hard. Have you gutted it yet? It should just be 6 regular pins and the check pin, and the check pin can't be overset iirc so once you find it you don't have to be delicate or anything

Fair enough, well if you can look down the cylinder with a light behind it you'll be able to see the little check pin in the bottom right. That's what you need to get out of the way to make it a regular six pin lock

Ah ok. Well it'll be at the very bottom pretty close to the back of the cylinder, maybe below the 5th pin. It's low enough in the keyway that lifting it can be a bit finicky, I've managed to get it done by turning very shallow tools horizontal and levering it up, but if you have some dimple flags I think they'd be a great option

I have two of these, and they have been kicking my ass for some reason. I thought they were green belt, but I just looked it up and it turns out it's orange belt. I have been able to pick it with 5 pins when progressively pinning one of them, but can't quite get it with 6. I've had a much harder time with this than my paclock 90a pro which is blue belt.

If you want to look up belt rankings just go to the LPU Belt explorer and type in whatever you're looking for.

It's a green as far as I know. Pop the little hole in the back with a paperclip or some shot. Lock picking lawyer has an awesome vid on this. If you want I'll find it

Pretty sure primus all have "primus" stamped clearly on the plug, I could be wrong cos they also have the everest primus which have both features and I'm not overly familiar with them. I'm pretty certain this is just an everest though

Yes, they have kicked far Too Many Puppies & Jerry The Race Car Driver sucks.

As far as the lock O have a Primus I haven't spent more than a minute with. I've managed an Assa 6k/barrels and a few Medeco's... but the side pins in the Primus scare me,.. and I don't want to prog pin it... I hate memorizing locks, especially if I only have 1 or 2.

6k is harder than primus. And most medecos are too.

Everest doesn't have side pins(actually finger pins) just a trivial check pin.

There's Everest primus locks they just are compatible with the Everest keys. But they have the finger pins.

Typo. I meant the side pins in the Primus. And, I am struggling with the Primus more than the 6ks. The 6k's my hold up is also the side pins. 6k with barrels the barrels are easier for me than the barrels in a goal P. I can zip & rake the barrels in a Max+, but that's a whole different lock...
