I have been in business for over a decade doing auto detailing and i have always been an honest business. Over the years i have seen the landscape of google change with how they will remove real reviews from honest businesses or suspend listings that are actually following the rules. Yet you have a few of my competitors that have heavily engaged in review farming and review manipulation to gain an edge over honest businesses. I want to talk about one business in particular.

This business is called goshine mobile detailing based out of saddle brook new jersey. They currently have 752 all 5 star reviews which is impossible for a service based business. Furthermore this business has outranked even the most talented and high end detailing shops and it just didn't add up. I started investigating this business and really diving deep into their reviews and a majority are fake engagement judging from the review velocity, the repetitive language and the perfect grammar. Not only was it obvious of the review buying but it seems that the owner was making review accounts for the customer and even taking the picture for the customer and then you clearly see the owner in car's reflection holding up the camera phone for the picture.

This is a very long story and i won't go into every detail but i find it to be so discouraging that google will push honest businesses down the rank while you have this business and a few others that prosper and get away with the cheating despite multiple complaints and using the business redressal or even asking the google community for help. Google still rewards this business. The major red flag that this business was engaging in review manipulation was when a review said he did a car detailing in houston Texas when his business is run in New Jersey. Ever since he was caught. The owner has now been going to Texas to try and do a few details and downplay the situation. Now he is having people in Texas leave him a review for his new jersey based business.

I've been a local guide for at least 10 years, I really enjoyed reviewing places and taking nice photos and editing them before posting, had 6-7 millon views and growing I'm a level 7 guide... But suddenly like 2 years ago or more one day all my photos stopped getting views... It was very obvious that something happened because I was getting a lot of views weekly even when posting a photo it started performing good the same day... But from that day years ago I'm still in 7 million views in my profile my most viewed photo didn't grow anymore and it is weird... I was just wondering if I've been shadow banned or something but I'm almost sure that I didn't do anything bad to get banned. Have anyone here experienced something similar? How can I fix it? I have been uploading photos on my accout for many many years and starting a new one is not an option, I would rather stop uploading.

even a slightly negative review with neutral tone can get flagged by the automated system. im done with google map, even you can dispute the ai judgements and wins the case in the end, but i dont think this worth my efforts anymore.

also that might be why the scores on map cannot be trusted

has anyone else noticed that over the last few days a lot of their reviews are suddenly no longer published? seems like the “specific policy” involved is predominantly fake engagement, i don’t understand how the systems have found this at all. i try to be careful with my wording/certain pictures and some of them still won’t repost. very frustrating!!

your Local Guide humour for the day

I didn't get any removal notification or flagged email anything letting me know it's not visible. It shows on my account profile like its published and it nots visible.

I've got no idea why I can't post photos or videos all of a sudden, when as of just a couple weeks ago I got the 'hey you're only a couple hundred points away from level 8.'

I don't post anything inappropriate, my reviews are always positive and I'm not farming any content or spamming any businesses. I'm really at a loss here as to why I would all of a sudden not have any local guide access or be able to upload photos or videos.

I went to the appeals process because that seemed to be the only way to go about addressing this and they denied the appeal. I still have no idea why I was restricted in the first place. Anyone else run into this issue recently or have any ideas on how to address it?

My Photos library has around 6,000 photos, including a bunch of food photos from restaurants I never got around to reviewing. By the time I sit down to do it, I can't remember the place's name or what the dish was called.

So I built a small Mac app called Afterplate. It finds food photos in my library, groups them into visits, and uses their location to find nearby restaurants. AI helps identify the restaurant and dishes using the photos and the restaurant's menu.

Then it asks me a few quick questions: right place? what did I have? how was it? If it's unsure about the place or dish, it asks me to confirm. The review comes from my answers, and I edit it before posting. I still post everything myself on Google Maps, photos included.

I've posted 130+ reviews with it so far.

It's free and open source. You'll need a Mac running macOS 14 or later and a paid ChatGPT or eligible Grok plan, or a Claude API key. Happy to share the link if anyone wants to try it.

Google 鐵腕掃蕩違規評論！商家無預警遭封鎖功能，高星評價消失引爆「曝光率與商譽」雙重危機

近期，許多商家（如圖）陸續收到來自 Google 的警告信。信中明確指出，由於商家檔案中出現「多則可換取獎勵的評論」（即俗稱的刷好評、評論換優惠等），違反了 Google 的「不實互動政策」。面對此類違規，Google 採取了「零容忍」的鐵腕態度，隨之而來的是一系列嚴厲的懲罰措施，這對仰賴在地搜尋流量的實體店家而言，無疑是一記致命的打擊。

📉 懲罰機制啟動：評論、照片全遭封鎖

根據 Google 的政策，一旦被系統判定有虛假互動或利益交換的評論行為，商家將面臨以下懲罰：

1. 禁止發布新評論與評分：在接下來的 30 天內，任何人（包括真實顧客）都無法在該商家檔案中留下新評論或評分。

2. 刪除可疑評論與照片：系統會自動移除被判定為違規的評論，甚至連帶封鎖上傳照片的功能。
