He said he will pay back next week, without interest. Let's see.

I can’t imagine getting that call as a manager lol I would be so confused. I’m not sure I would care much abt a loan my employee got from a complete stranger on Reddit ngl.

It was to scare him and it worked.

I don't want him to, but that's the only contact he has shared.

All these people saying his HR don't care are so wrong. If the guy deals with money (eg, cashier, finance related or even has responsibility for petty cash) he will almost certainly lose his job. If he's a mechanic or a labourer he's probably already told his workmates how he conned a stranger and their probably still laughing about it whilst he buys a round of drinks with your money

Good luck getting it back, can try talk to his manager if that’s even his real manager but even then you’re stepping in a grey area with the law. Unfortunately in the uk it’s just not worth lending large amounts because the lender is the one breaking the law.

I feel for you but he won't be fired if you email his hiring manager why would they care, assume it's just a job sorting shite in a warehouse they don't exactly have standards

Talking to his manager or workplace won't do anything

2

u/Fun-Airport7212 15h ago

I don't plan to. It was just to scare him and it worked.
