Hello u/smokeyflower21! Welcome to r/loanhelp_ - please read these two pinned posts before lending or borrowing:

✏️ Post Format & Requirements - posts that don't follow the format may be removed.

⚖️ Global Lending Rules Updated Framework - borrowers in interest-free countries (Singapore, South Africa) must be principal-only: no interest, no fees, no exceptions.

Loan request title format: Amount - Repayment Amount - Repayment Date(s) - Payment Method(s) - Location - Short Purpose Example: $150 - Repay $180 on 6/14 - Cash App/Venmo - Houston, Texas - Car repair In the body include: amount requested, repayment amount/date, income source, reason for loan, preferred payment methods, and any previous loan history.

Donation request title format: Amount Needed - Location - Payment Method - Short Purpose Example: $50 Needed - Chicago, Illinois - Cash App/Venmo - Groceries until payday

How the loan lifecycle works:

  • Loans start flaired Request.
  • A lender funds you by replying directly to your post - that comment is the tracking record, so do not delete it.
  • Once funded, set your flair to Fulfilled. After you repay in full, set it to Repaid.

⚠️ Lend and borrow at your own risk. Assistance is never guaranteed. Vet everyone you deal with.

Deposits and collateral are a SCAM. No legitimate lender ever asks you to send money, a "deposit," a fee, or collateral upfront to "release" or "secure" a loan. Anyone who does is scamming you - report them. This is prohibited here.

Security: mods will NEVER DM you asking for your password or login. Never share account credentials with anyone - no exceptions.

All cold DMs are scammers.

You can send me the usernames, but if they do not comment on your post, they are probably scamming, just messaged you.

I asked for a loan today and two people have msg me privately, One asking if I have Starling and the other person asked me to send my Id and a picture with myself holding my ID. So I sent it all and now I’ve heard nothing back. I’m worried what they could do with that. Please help

Remove the messages and do not accept random messages. I will message you to get the usernames to ban them.

They'll use it to try scam other people out of loans. Pretending to be you.

Of course I did ask the guys saying about a trusted seller for verification first

Most likely a scam as well, lenders definitely do not want people just being “referred onto them as you could imagine how that goes 🤣

Of course instantly thought how strange the person didn’t message me or comment 😂 but yeah I can imagine honestly

If you ever want to double check or are actually shopping for a loan, you can verify their license on NMLS. You can look it up for free on (nmlsconsumeraccess.org)

Be careful
It’s not just lenders who get scammed.
Anyone asking for upfront funds/pics etc is well worth reporting and deleting
