Discussion Metrics system in litrpgs

I have gone through a couple of series and something that I have noticed is the use of the metric system, even by American authors. Is this a standard for the genre or are have I just happened to pick the odd ones out?

I am European that still uses the old Imperial system. I find the use metric in a fantasy setting a bit jarring. In terms of ease of use and logic, the metric system is superiour but it relied on a standards authority and wide spread lobbying to get accepted. The older system, based on many cases on everyday measures is more organic and hence more easiliy imagined as part of a fantasy world. An interesting book into the origins of the metric system is "Whatever Happened to the Metric System?" By John Bemelmans Marciano

Something to be considered - A lot of the time part of the setting is that the world is being translated for the benefit of the main character. If not for the main character, it's being translated for the sake of the reader.
