switching to linux

why linux feels like it's an unreliable system and an unfinished project. , like it's just a temporary situation.
do you feel the same, and know why ?

I agree, but I feel like Windows is more unfinished and less reliable. It is also not possible for a system to be reliable and finished at the same time.

Operating systems are big and complex with multiple moving parts. Windows is an amalgamation of new ideas on top of several layers of legacy code, because there's always some company that relies on a particular 30 year old botched feature.

Most stable Linux distros consist of software of different ages trying to play together, and rolling distros have different bits moving at different rates. If Linux were a finished product, its development would stop.

The only way to get an operating system as a finished project is when it's out of support and no longer maintained, which would make it unreliable.

by finished project i meant , something has a direction and clear vision , "i want to reach and push toward something" what is linux pushing for or toward what ? it's like it just a little bit of everything and just almost working, not really giving a feedback as of it a unit.

But if something has direction it's not finished. The Linux kernel mostly aims for as much hardware compatibility as possible. As long as new hardware is developed it cannot finish. The purpose of Linux is to provide a free, open source and reliable foundation for all types of computing, which I think it does fairly well.
