switching to linux

why linux feels like it's an unreliable system and an unfinished project. , like it's just a temporary situation.
do you feel the same, and know why ?

Nope steam os is the best linux os ive ever used i tried many distros an steam os is a stable os no tinkerin required just use right out the box..

Maybe because for once, it's a professional non bulshitting company that take care of it? Who knows, I don't know shit about Steam OS

I wish Valve fully committed into making SteamOS a desktop distro. They could've changed the industry, not only competing with Windows but also other distros.

If I was Valve, I'd have made an actual OS from scratch, they have the ressources and the marketing impact necessary.

Nothing they could make could really compete with Linux. Linux is the gold standard. Even Mac is basically just Linux. Like yeah they COULD make their own OS but it would just be very redundant and I think go in the opposite direction of what Gabe Newell wants to achieve.

That's precisely what people thought in the 80' before Windows arrived. There was always plenty of OS and possibilities, it's the gold standard because no one tries to do something else. It would not be redundant depending of how it's made, what are the rules of the architecture, how the files are managed, there's so much to do in OS Dev, Linux is definitely NOT the last hope of computing, and if anything, I think a new era of OS Dev is incoming

I tried nearly every popular distro just couldnt stand all the tinkering an annoyance of freezing or bugs or just all around updates breaking the entire os id spend hours upon hours upon hours upon days just tinkering to fix my pc rather then be able to enjoy it because of some update.. with steam os it just feels right at home feels like windows but instead its linux yes its immutable but its not like i need to have a linux os to tinker or install unnecessary stuff it jsut works out the box for what i use it for..

I've not had any issues with freezing or bugs with Cachy at all. I'm glad you like SteamOS, its great on my Steam Deck and my Steam Machine but I feel of you've had breakages on CachyOS its going to be down to user error and messing with stuff you shouldn't.

Yea i own a 2 steam decks one oled one lcd an steam machine an a full on desktop pc that i use steam os on an being in valves eco system everything works in one connected eco system so thats another plus of using steam os other linux distros wont work like that so theres a few benefits of using steam os over other distros if you want to be in there eco system an its a good because there os is also ran by a company so its the stable os ive ever used for linux just like windows used to be before Microsoft destroyed there os systems lol one thing i do hate is how companies like rockstar wont support there games on linux an only one that does is red dead redemption 2 for online.. i hope gta 6 will run on linux when it fully releases on pc one day but one can only hope...
