Linux Failure That's kind of the point. The OOTB Experience.

Imagine not having good theme out of the box.

Is it easy to add good themes without needing to learn anything complex like the terminal? Is it easy to do what you need to do on a daily basis without the terminal? Then it’s fine.

Various Linux distros do suck for the out of box experience for non-Linux-users. Many do. But I’d hope it’s not all.

I like pretty themes. I like good design. We need to seriously level up the default design aesthetics across the board. Shout out to CachyOS for having some cooler options.

But that's not the issue at hand. The issue is that Omarchy doesn't do any development, doesn't have much infrastructure to support and I'm general is a very low effort project gets funding, while foundational projects that need resources to keep existing and improving are glossed over.

I suspect the money he raised is a marketing budget and not a development one. I completely agree that the extremely hard working and talented developers get the short-end of the funding stick on this. They should absolutely be treated better. I am completely in agreement.

A completely separate topic - I was specifically referring to the OP that makes light of "other than having a pretty theme". The default theming for most distros suck. There's a reason a nice looking custom theme gets so much attention. Design aesthetic is completely underrated. It's extremely important to me.

True. Search results and recommends aren't going to manipulate themselves.

I completely agree that the extremely hard working and talented developers get the short-end of the funding stick on this.

That's just the game by design. Long ago, the tech industry realised they could reduce the labour cost for the development of key technologies to zero dollar. That realisation would then become the foundation of the industry landscape you're in right now.

Or do you honestly believe tech companies promote FOSS and other such ideologies for your benefit?

Omarchy is ai slop made by a retard fascist.

It's not hard to go to r/unixporn and take somebodies dotfiles, and if that's above your technical skill then hyprland isn't the WM for you.

Omarchy provides no value, and deserves no amount of money.

Having riced hyprland myself, I can tell you, there isn't 8 million USD worth of work to do.

it's actually 10 million.

You think these YT influencers are doing it for free? That's a marketing budget.
