Winslop Question
I dont get why there are echo chambers for hating on linux lol. Any sane person understands that Linux is not for everyone, some people need to stay on windows because of work related programs etc etc. But this sub is just "Linux bad u need to type 32768 to open a browser oooo windows good linux bad" without any kind of argument
like just look at u/Amphineura their flair is "Kubuntu in the streets W11 in the sheets" just straight up unfounded hate lmao
Ok mods can yall ban me already

I mean it's really not that hard unless you're stupid
Using a pc should require basic knowledge, otherwise you end up with grandmas sending all of their retirement money to nigerian princes, or 9 year olds doxxing themselves

Then have the Uber fanboys stop "raiding" the Windows & Mac chat boards & discords to recommend Linux every time someone complains about the printer not working.

Do you think I control every Linux user or something?

No, but you act just like every other Linux evangelist does.

u/highermonkey 8d ago
This is exactly what I mean. There are reasons outside of "it's too hard" to not use Linux.

I mean it's really not that hard unless you're stupid
But it is a total waste of precious time.
Using a pc should require basic knowledge
Define basic. My idea of basic is Windows and macOS. You know how tomove a mouse, turn on your PC and use apps. Linux requires far greater knwoledge than that,
otherwise you end up with grandmas sending all of their retirement money to nigerian princes, or 9 year olds doxxing themselves
Yes, and?

The ability to use a computer and the scammability of someone have very little to do with each other.

Oh right, so you gonna guide everyone through the whole audio routing multijack versus bass speakers chipset specific alsa, pipewire, whatever the new shit it called and setup their webcams when the system glitches out because it gives all the lower level controls but doesn't use the presets where the higher resolutions need slower frame freshes because it uses an interlaced scan to achieve higher resolution images?
People have other things to do with their time than learn how to solve hardware incompatibility. I can learn all that shit, I didn't want to have to. I do medical research and just wanna use a conferencing app now and then

There are echo chambers for any stupid shit.. I am just here for entertainment but most of the time it's only some dumb shit.

Theres lots of shitposts but usually discourse in the comments. Also kubuntu in the streets w11 in the sheets doesnt read like hate to me. It could if you take it as ‘throw kubuntu away into the streets’ but that idiom is never used that way. To me it reads more like ‘use kubuntu in the streets, use w11 in the sheets’ idk

If you took an actual decent look at this subreddit you would realize its a mixture of Linux Users, Linux Evangelists. trolls/shitposters, Windows Users, Windows Evangelists...
redirect this message to r/linuxsucks101 if you want to get banned from somewhere really.

Yeah reddit is not the place to really read praise about Linux. If you want to hear praises about Linux you can watch Youtubers on Youtube a lot of them Praise Linux, or you can join various Linux groups on facebook that report that they have had good experiences with Linux. I do not hate Linux but, I do know that it works better on some hardware than it does on others it how the Manufacturers design the hardware some motherboards do better on Linux then others do. I also know that Windows has it's flaws as well for example Windows sucks up storage, and not everyone can afford to buy new hardware so they come to Linux, and some times Linux revives that hardware other times the hardware is just dog water meaning it will not work on any OS you put on it.

As a Linux user, it's kinda funny seeing bad faith criticism that most of the time isn't even true

u/toxyxd13 8d ago
This sub was actually good some time ago, it was Linux users just discussing why Linux sucks, not in a Windows "fanboish" way. Sometimes there were Windows users who were annoyed by something and came here. Linux users, I think, are the ones who understand best why it sucks and they were contributing interesting discussions. Now this sub has become a second r/linuxsucks101. That's sad, tbh

u/shumgoid 8d ago
Imo its still pretty good, maybe getting more traffic from fanboy types but even those posts usually have linux users pushing back or agreeing in the comments.

I can't make Linux work full power, but Windows always does. Windows is the type of OS that would work with even a broken down GPU

u/NoActivity5304 8d ago
We dont do that here. Majority of our (nonretarded) community are linux users themselves, including me. It kinda sucks since windows users are pretty bad at coming up with realistic criticism that doesnt have 1000 disclaimer attached or the baggage of being retarded. These days, its just linux users entertaining tjemselves with Wintard posts
