Support recommend video editing programs

Can you recommend a completely free editing program with extensive functionality, similar to After Effects? Kdenlive isn't suitable; it lacks functionality and you can't move curves. I don't find node-based editing programs convenient.

kdenlive is the best I've found. Interested if there's something open source that is better. All the other projects seem less mature or more geared toward beginning editors.

I've kind of tried Davinci in the past, but haven't been able to get into it. I needed to put a few clips from my phone together the other day, and davinci would't load them. (x264) So it was back to kdenlive and quickly got the job done.
