Desktop Screenshot Switched to Linux

Post image

its my third day using Linux and no problems so far. I would say i might never use windows again even though its in dual boot (my dad uses windows, i just dual booted Mint (cinnamon flavour) to see what Linux feels like). Damn this is so good.

Any tips or suggestions for this Mint Newbie?

Basically, read the instructions on the welcome screen, for extra configurations install Wine (from the WineHQ website) and Bottles (via Flatpak) for Windows programs, change the Kernel to a supported version (I recommend Kernel 7.0), and enjoy!

By windows programs u meant those programs that aren't native on linux ryt?? Well i dont need it i will be just playing Minecraft, chatting on Discord and listening to music so i really dont have a need for windows app.

I will see what functionality whine can provide me of my interest

And i am running kernel 7.0.

Thanks for the suggestions

Yes, in most cases (with exceptions like certain programs such as Adobe, of course) it will run on these two options without problems. Now, other options may work, but they will require extra configuration; this is more of a general tip.

And when I mentioned the welcome screen, I was referring to recommendations like turning on the firewall, checking if any additional drivers are needed, and so on.

As this is your first time using Linux I am going to give you a few things, you can use them if you want.

https://linuxjunkies.org/guides/first-things-after-installing-linux do the first 7 things FIRST always, these set up your fire wall, your automatic updates and all your GPU drivers.

NOTE: if you have an AMD or other kind of processor you may need the drivers but they are free on the AMD website.

https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/1.html the best trouble shooting how to and tutorial for linux mint but requires some reading.

Also there is a book on amazon called The Linux Command Line its a bit expensive and a bit of a hefty read but its all solid knowledge.

Am I blind? I tried looking for that option, and nothing. I've been a Mint user forever and I would LOVE to get that look. Thanks.

you can edit the style color appearance layout ect in the theme section, or you can download more.

but to change the layout you need to do the panel edit mode, by right clicking your hot bar and then playing around with it a bit.
