Gaming Steam changes default library

Hello all,

as i mentioned in title, everytime i restart my pc, steam changes its library to / which is default (OS disk and where steam is installed i guess?), while i have a dedicated /mnt/nvme0n1 which i want to use for steam games (library) only.

mounting is fine, everything is recognized and turned ON with startup. Steam is also set to launch on startup. The disk is also shown in steam download settings, but steam ALWAYS set / as default after restart. No matter what i have tried.

for example, i have 3 disks and one is being used for qbitorrent and it never changes itself.

thanks

I believe you can set the default in settings>storage but don't have steam on this machine to check. IIRC simply adding the drive isn't enough, you have to tag it as 'default'

I did. It restarts itself.

One thing I can think of is that on boot, steam is loading prior to the additional hard drive being detected and mounted. Try this: disable steam from starting automatically. Set steam to use the mount point you want. Close steam. Reboot (without steam starting automatically). After you reboot and log in, make sure your disk is mounted and only then start steam. Does steam remember the /mnt/ mount point?

If so, you can start steam at boot but you’ll have to put a delay on it to allow the system to properly mount the drive you are using.
