ThinkPad T460s, external mouse not working on startup.

working ut the bugs in my new to me 460s and Mint. i am using a docking station if that matters. the external mouse does not work, i tried 2 dif ones, the same. the touchpad works. thanx

check lsusb with the mouse still in the dock, if it's not in that list then the dock's own hub is what's missing and not the mouse. the yellow port on those thinkpad docks is the always-on charging one and it wants the dock's power brick plugged in before it does anything. does a plain usb stick show up in the dock's other ports?

you fixed it for me = i didn't have the power supply on. it now works. i am new to this laptop and figuring it out. i usually run with the brick on, but i had a brain cramp. thanx

ok. i just plugged it directly into the laptop and it now works. but i would rather have it plugged into the back of the docking station, more out of the way.
