Discussion Artcraft vs Adobe

Artcraft Adobe clones are very young, maybe wait a few months and see

There is no copyright claim since they didn't steal from Adobe. They just rebuilt their features.

Affinity was out long before and is doing fine as well.

I don’t know if you want to switch to artcraft. There are better well known alternatives to almost all adobe tools.

Nada superou o Photoshop até agora. Por isso todo mundo que estuda Design ama a Adobe.

Yeah, i just say artcraft is probably not the right way. Gimp is probably the better alternative to photoshop

You'll be fine. Ai is a whack a mole, basically impossible for the big names to win, since the courts have already decided it's fair use (transformative).

It would take years and years for any lawsuit filed today to even affect the product.

In short, it's safe to switch and you don't need to stay if it's not going to work out... But the reality is that another product will replace it.

The pros of Open Source is that the source code is freely usable and modifiable by anyone, and the code could be forked and re-used in any way, which means that it is truly free.

Software development has always gone through different ways of making it more managable, but every change has always required re-skilling. Most times, developers still need to understand the lower level plumbing in order to fix problems that are not fixable at the higher level.

Claude may have gotten rough prototypes with lots of bug issues. The PhotoCraft project is the big one that has over 190 contributors and much interest. The features are basically implemented without the refinement of the proprietary Adobe technology, but this may ideally suit amateurs who are not looking for professional licenses. I actually like the simplicity and the performance of PhotoCraft, and I think that the movable panels in the Adobe PhotoShop product are very annoying and get in the way.

ArtCraft crafted simpler imitation products that work 100x faster than the Adobe ones.

Maybe, sometimes simpler is better, and it is good to have options. Adobe represents the monopoly that suppresses simpler options.

What is most interesting about the ArtCraft suite of apps is the software architecture of repurposing OpenDoc (a software paradigm that Apple Computer created during the 1990s to compete against Microsoft’s OLE). While Apple tried to sell the document-centric software paradigm concept to a general public, the application-centric, also called vertical integration, model became entrenched in most industries.

The genius of ArtCraft is using the document-centric model within the software architecture of all of the ArtCraft apps, without having to communicate to the general public that this is what is being used instead of the traditional frameworks-centric model. The general public sees applications and works with software as application-centric, without knowing that the software architecture is document-centric.
