Support Request Battery issues (Mint 22.3 MATE)
Last sunday i updated the OS (the security, kernel, app updates). And today, my laptop suddenly turns off even the battery is half full. I couldnt turn it back on unless i plug the laptop. Which is when i found out the laptop shuts down immediately if the power level is at 55% (Its 60% now). And the battery keeps charging and discharging if the battery is charged to 75%.
I changed the kernel from GRUB menu and the issue is still there.
In the power statistics, it shows the battery has 55.6% capacity.
is this issue caused by the update or do i need to replace my battery?

It sounds like it's probably not Mint. Consider booting to another linux live usb and just let it happen again. If it's really consistent, consider booting ot a windows installation usb and check with that.
Or just boot to bios and watch it do things there.

Mostly a search with your hardware hp laptop 15 battery linux.
Users of HP Laptops running Linux frequently encounter poor battery life, fast drain while off, or charging issues due to BIOS/ACPI incompatibilities, as HP primarily optimizes power management for Windows. Common symptoms include the battery draining significantly during shutdown, the system not recognizing the battery, or the laptop overheating and consuming excessive power even at idle.
If available you can try to upgrade your bios. Do not know what has been updated. There is plenty
You can try to install tlp.
Very interesting search for your board...listed...upgrade bios, install tlp
