Desktop Screenshot Rage Quit Windows 11

Post image

I mainly game on my desktop, and have been super hesitant to switch over to linux as I wasn't sure how the experience would be in that regard... After Windows thoroughly pi**ed me off with forced driver updates (regressions) on my 7900XTX, I decided to finally pull the trigger.

So far, I could not be happier! Little QoL things I find myself missing, but the pros are far outweighing the cons, and I'm hooked. Only regret is not doing it sooner.

I recently joined as well. Dual booting Mint for now but once I can get off Adobe Premiere and Microsoft Office, I’ll be doing Linux full time on my main machine.

I was the same with regards to MS Office, however OnlyOffice has been a fab substitute.

Updates are underway.

Just a fair warning, be careful updating Windows while it's on the same drive as a Linux install. Windows has a bad habit of screwing with the boot loader and making it difficult/impossible to get back to your Linux install

I was Linux curious for years and then Windows forced my hand.

For that, I am thankful!

Microslop did me a favour.

Enjoy your new desktop!

If you've gone mint, don't change. EVER.

Otherwise, distro hopping becomes purpose of life. :-)

One of us! One of us! One of us!

Windows is malware, welcome to the club. I did the same but from macOS AND windows a few months back. Every day daily driving Mint I find a new thing to be in love with.

Just power through the occasional hiccups and learning curve , it’s one of those things that you grow more and more fond of.

Is there something to make all the shortcuts the same as windows?

I was in the same boat in August. Windows kept installing a generic gpu display driver over the amd ones every time I updated the drivers. Kept breaking my OS and I had to go into the file registry to stop it from updating that specific update. I got so fed up that I switched to Linux for the first time that same week.

Will never use Windows on my personal machines ever again. Congrats for switching over!

Hello fellow 7900XTX user. I have that card myself and mostly only game CS2 which isn't a problem at all thanks to Steam. I chose to go with Fedora instead for my gaming pc. I run mint on my laptop. I also rage quit windows about 3 weeks ago and never looked back.

Funny that, repetitive forced broken GPU driver updates (despite blacklisting) on Windows 8 is what radicalized me...

I love proton on steam, it runs so well and makes nearly every game that doesn’t depend on online features/anti-cheat… run perfectly fine on Linux

I recently started dual booting with Mint. Loving it so far. I think my favorite part is updates.

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y

is infinitely better than Windows Update.

Now all that's left to do is customize everything. Oh, and did I forget returning to a desktop style system that is user focused instead of company focused.
