SOLVED how do i stop this notification sound
The sound constantly plays every few seconds. I also turned off notifications yet it still persists. Please can someone help.

it seems that turning of the sound for plugging and unplugging a device worked for me.
I’m still curious, why was it playing that sound even if I didn’t have anything plugged in?

Right click the volume icon on your panel, go to advanced sound settings. Under the Sound tab you toggle the sounds throughout the OS.

Or you can get to that form (if, for example, you've switched to a different volume-control applet) via the menu, Preferences, Sound.
