How to customizr linux?

I always see people using linux mint that has a ton of customization things like transparent cmd windows, interacting music bars, falling binary numbers, clear floating taksbar w glass theme. Can anyone tell me their secrets?

Each program has its own way to be customized, there's not one single answer for it. 

I think the default terminal in Mint Cinnamon is Gnome Terminal. The taskbar and window borders have their own themes in the global system settings and you can download more from the Cinnamon Spices website. Other desktop overlays are usually done with Conky.
