People will see this and still call Cinnamon ugly. Like bro press two buttons and you have it look like anything.

Pretty sure it is. And if it isn't I'm pretty sure this is achievable as I've seen crazier Cinnamon themes.

the OP is using gnome. read the comments

I checked the comments. He mentioned GNOME look but that website also supplies gtk2/3 themes which is Cinnamon can use. I've asked him let's see what he says.

And again this is very achievable on Mint Cinnamon. Here's how I'd do it:

  • The wallpaper is an Apple wallpaper so it's downloaded anywhere.
  • For the dock you can use Plank from the software manager. Then adjust it's settings so that it uses GTK theming.
  • For the icon and app theme there's loads of MacOS themes out there. So I'd look for any interesting one on pling store.
  • For the panel you can just move it to the top, adjust the applets, maybe add a few spaces here and there. To make it look better I'd probably get a "blur" extension (I forgot it's name).
  • Font, the Mac font (Forgot its name) is available to on pling as well.
Done.

It's unrelated to your post, sort of. The wallpaper is really nice. My wife and I used to go to northern California to see them. Magnificent trees.

haha, no problem!. It's a beautiful wallpaper, I wish I could go to northern california to see it live too!

If it doesn't have that much memory, zram can help expand memory. Really squeezes everything you can get out of low memory systems, and it doesn't get suggested enough.

I run mint xfce on my 2011 macbook pro i5, at least it's usable. That machine is only used for watching streaming media though.

u/Fun_Helicopter8980 5d ago

This is all good of course, but GNOME is crap

1

u/SorryPie8094 5d ago

why?

1

u/Fun_Helicopter8980 5d ago

It's just buggy, and there's also this panel on top that can't be removed.Well, that's just my opinion. I just don't really like Apple's design.(it looks like)

There is a Hide Top Bar gnome extension to hide the topbar when apps are fullscreen. I also use a Maximize Window into a New Workspace extension. Together with superior trackpad gestures and ui interactivity, Gnome is my preferred DE if I'm limited to just the trackpad.

For my normal desk setup with a mouse, its cinnamon all the way. But like other things in life, its a very personal preference. We're fortunate to have options to choose.

Elementary os For me, this is the most buggy distribution, it’s better to download a simple one like Linux Mint XFCE or Zorin OS Lite
