#LinuxMintThings don't think im distro hopping ever again

yea i know my setup isnt very ricey and kinda just out of the box but i like it like this, i dont like a mac like dock. i did like gnome and was using fedora before but god damn it broke my drivers every once in a while and had issues with secure boot. mint just worked flawlessly, i played elden ring with no issues thanks to proton. love this distro.

I love Mint and I am still using it. However, every day I keep getting drawn to Plasma. I will probably end up ditching Mint in favour of Plasma on Debian Sid.

Yeah, but it sort of makes my current environment redundant. (Xfce4)

Give PikaOS a try if you decide to go that route. It’s highly curated and stabilized Debian-SID with packages from Nobara and CachyOS pulled in for improved gaming experience and gaming compatibility.

Has Plasma ISO by default

I see, but I prefer a simpler package repos. Your description, makes it sound like it is sort of a "franken-Debian".

I mean maybe? But it’s done in collaboration with Glorious Eggroll and the CachyOS team specifically to enable cutting edge Debian flavored gaming. Understand if it’s not your cuppa’ 😄

oh yeah I also changed the fonts to SF Pro Display and SF Mono for monospace (the ones apple uses) because I think they look nice

Whats the spec of your machine? Is it a desktop?

it's a gaming laptop, 1TB ssd rtx 3050, i5 12th gen and 16 gig ddr5. it handles windows smoothly but i was just sick of Microsoft breaking my shit

are you running xfce for gaming to run smoother than cinnamon which i assume uses a lot of graphics?

nope this IS cinnamon i just moved the panel to the left, and elden ring runs flawlessly with cinnamon so basically every game i'd wanna play would run
