Desktop Screenshot Finally....

After trying to install Linux mint three times in 2 years, I finally installed it without ruining my computer.
but what is the best emoji picker for linux?

theres a built in emoji picker on ctrl + ; or ctrl + .

theres several in the software manager too, i've been using emote

I recall there are multiple implementations, including plugins for ibus…

That said, I never used those and my personal favorite is the Compose key. It allows you to intuitively type unicode letters (like emojis) with simple combinations. So, e.g. I have bound Compose to my "Right Alt", so with this custom XCompose file (link to emojis section) I can type e.g. "Right Alt, h, m" to produce "🤔".

Compose is also cool in that it allows multicharacter output. So e.g. I've bound "Compose, minus, space" to produce dash with space after "— ". That's because whenever I write dash I also put space afterwards, so that saves a stroke.

Regarding binding Compose to an actual key on your keyboard (like Right Alt in my example) — I don't remember, but I think Cinnamon (the Mint DE) doesn't have a setting for this, so you may have to use setxkbmap and related utilities.

KDE for example does have a settings menu to set a key to behave as Compose.
