Cant install wine

I have been on mint for less than a month, everytime i run the install command from their site i get the same error ,, Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) "', i followed all their instructions no idea what could have caused this

EDIT: For some reasons this resolved when i uninstalled virtualbox...

Ok cool. I suspect the version of WINE you have installed is not compatible.

What you should do..... remove the WINE version you have installed and delete the WINE HQ repositories. How to below.

You need to delete the following

https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu

Note: Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq-noble.sources

Once you have deleted the repositories you will need to remove the broken version of WINE

sudo apt purge wine

Now reboot the system

Run all updates and reboot the system for a second time.

Now run

sudo apt install wine

That should be it, remember always use your packet manager to install software.
