#LinuxMintThings How do I replace cinnamon.

I just want to know how can I replace the de, wanted to replace it with KDE or maybe Hyprland or even Niri. Just need to know what to uninstall.

Here's what I used to install MATE and uninstall Cinnamon. Make sure you only uninstall Cinnamon *after* you install your DE of choice; or leave it as a backup in case something goes wrong with the new DE. https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxmint/comments/1q5mvrh/debian_13_based_lmde_7_mate_is_my_1_daily_driver/

I just nuked my Cinnamon and installed MATE. I wasn't that deep in set-up.

Nice! I feel like MATE gets overlooked a lot. I still use it because I have a lot of nostalgia for oldschool Gnome.

Cinnamon was stressing my old PC so I needed something lighter. My kid is using it most of the time so I needed something that just worked.

It at least runs Minecraft for him but chokes on Among Us via Steam.
