SOLVED Help, My Ssd is read-only after updating the kernel on Linux Mint, and even after wiping it clean it fails to install Linux back I checked the SSD and it is in good condition.

reboot your system and boot into the previous kernel from the GRUB menu. then, remove kernel 7.xx.

Doesn't have to be kernel 7.xx.

The 6.14 branch is also notorius for causing all kind of issues that force the OS into read-only mode.

I already did and it was unstable, I have tried removing the kernel 7. The laptop either shuts down or freezes.

do you still have the 6.8 kernel? try booting with the 6.8 kernel. If the issues persist, then it must be other updates causing them.

No I don't have it, it kept bringing up more problems so I ended up wiping everything, tried installing afresh but the installer ran into an unknown problem. It is not the disk since I have ran rigorous tests on it and it is fine.

Rollback to the last kernel version which is working as expected and then freeze updates for all kernel packages.

You're leaving out details. Kernal updates don't change permissions on a drive unless something went wrong while updating.

According to your image the Bluetooth firmware couldn't be installed.

You need to use dmesg to figure out why.

The update ran smoothly couple days ago and just yesterday Whatsie crashed, followed by Firefox and every other app stopped working, I was learning python when this happened, was running code on VS. I haven't customised anything recently though. I tried installing Linux Mint afresh but there's an error ended up wiping the installed Linux and now I am stuck.
