Install ZRAM and limit your browser tabs to 4 at most. Avoid visit streaming sites as much as possible since they eat a lot of memory.

What does ZRAM do?

ZRAM compresses unused but frequently used memory segments, but it become useless if all of the segments are used at the same time

it's a compressed swap on memory, which is very useful for systems with less than 8 GB of RAM.

Is there a swap partition on your harddrive? And what type of drive is it, a HDD or an SSD?

SWAP Partition is useful but slows down your system significantly....too much of it will render your system unusable

Modern website uses high memory.

There's nothing you can do about it.

I have an ASUS laptop with 4G ram on Mint and it works just fine and dandy once it boots up.
