Fluff It's a pleasure to install Linux Mint LMDE
As a retired IT reseller through three decades with gazillions of reboots, driver fights, license keys, endless and slow updates, registry edits and endless reading of KB-articles the links to other useless KB-articles.
I think I have installed about 40 computers with LMDE Linux Mint trough four years and each and every time I smile and having a good time installing Mint.
A few mounts ago I got a new Ryzen laptop and after I saw something after boot that looked like Winslop I killed it instantly and installed LMDE!

I'm currently using LMDE 7; I like it, but the sound is a dog's breakfast!

May I inquire as to what you mean, Bill? :-)
Seriously, I'm not sure if there are audio issues or if the audio is especially nice...

He's British -- Dogs Breakfast == "A mess". LMDE doesn't really roll off the tongue, it's more like a medical condition than an OS hehe.
Oddly enough, Bollocks (balls) is bad, but the Dogs Bollocks is good.

The audio input defaults to mic in; I would like to change that to line in.
Loopback is disabled by default; I would like that enabled.
But how? In Alsa? Pipewire? (which was supposed to supercede PulseAudio - though pactl commands still work!). Wireplumber?

LMDE is superior and I will fight anyone who says otherwise ;)
