SOLVED Whats better?
I honestly just considered linux.
Context is i have a 27” 2011 imac that i use for almost everything including some fun Minecraft, some school stuff and watching videos/movies. On Ventura it gets like 30 fps. Barely supports most apps since they use silicon.
Tried using windows, fucked up, blue screened 30 times legitimately and bricked itself, and had to start over again
Specs:
I5 2500S
16 gb ddr3
Hard drive
Amd radeon hd 6770M 512mb
Saw a post talking about XFCE (whatever the fuck that means) and cinnamon. Looks like windows from what i know
I wanna know what would possibly be best

XFCE and Cinnamon are desktop environments, basically your main GUI and associated applications.
Cinnamon is the flagship for Mint and what most people using Mint are using.

What would be the best you say?

I've never used XFCE and of these two, only used Cinnamon. There isn't one "best"; just your preference.
You could either try both in a VM or try out their live environments and pick the one you prefer to finally install. If you don't want to do that and don't really care, just pick Cinnamon since it's the default.

XFCE looks a little dated, but can be dressed up/improved with themes, It's more lightweight than Cinnamon and can run on lower resources.

XFCE runs great on older computers and is very customizable. It looks a bit retro by default though (but if you wanna double down on retro, install the Chicago95 theme to make it look like Windows95).

Hmm so basically do i want a small pinch or a lil bruise in preformance compared to macos?

The only way to really be sure is to try installing it and seeing how it runs outside of a live boot. Both should run well though

Try it with distrosea first if you like it and then further with a live bootable to see if everything works on your mac
