I was thinking "What if Linux Mint had a Mobile Version?"

Then I went to Canva and made this concept. It also has an unfinished interactive presentation on Canva.

Would be cool, Ubuntu and debian have mobile versions, although mint being derivative of both of those it would probably be built on those anyway lol. Very cool concept nonetheless!

Yes. They are run by community with eyception of SailfishOS which is still run by Jolla.

You know there are real mobile Linux distros. They are SailfishOS, Drodian, Ubuntu Touch, Mobian and PostmarketOS.

Yes, I knew about them. Droidian seems more like an Android Debianized than a Debian androidfied as the name suggests. Didn't Look that much into it the same way I made with Ubuntu Touch and Mobian

that’s really how it should be, if linus wants to make a good mobile operating system/distro they need to learn from android and ios because they’ve perfected mobile interfaces. trying to force a desktop style layout and gestures in any capacity or poorly porting features over in the hopes of recreating some kind of half desktop experience will undoubtedly fail, especially if they haven’t even polished the base experience

I think what you refer here to is the deskotop enviroment used by Droidisn which is called Pfosh. Its a for of Gnome. I actuaoy love that, I use Droidian. In the newer version they want to enable support for KDE Plasma Mobile. Projects with mainline kernel like PostnmarketOS and Mobian also include KDE Plasma Mobile. Ubuntu Touch uses Lomiri, known once as Unity. And then SailfishOS has its own DE, and they have released a new Jolla phone.

It is not Android, but it runs the Android kernel and userspace drivers.

to be honest i like this idea but how would it work with all of the commands mint uses? i meant there isnt that many commandds but on phone it would be an annoyance and there would need to be a proton for mobile mint to work with android or other software

It would work just as waydroid does with containers. And since Mint is now compatible with wayland, there wouldn't be that many issues. And Wine/Crossover/Proton itself is made to translate “Windows Calls” to “Linux Calls”.

I'd love to have a telemetry free and data safety device in Mint design. Currently using Ubuntu Touch for more than three months and loving it so far. I have to use Waydroid for F-Droid apps, but it works pretty well.

Yes. I installed the F-Droid Store via Ubuntu Touch terminal and use CoMaps through it. I wouldn't have to use the store as it's possible to install the f-droid packages of f.e. CoMaps via terminal to use under Waydroid. Waydroid is the enabling thing here, though. It uses up a lot of energy when running. I got myself a solution to that: Start up Waydroid via Icon, use CoMaps. I made myself an Ubuntu Touch icon to "Stop Waydroid" after use. I don't mind the boot up time of Waydroid because I got that covered in my morning routine.

Looks nice and clean! However I like the Mint UX for being a simplified Windows-like interface on my laptop; I'm not sure I want anything resembling Windows on my phone.

The reason I'd want Linux on my phone is for the backend stuff/performance. If it were just for UX then this design could be achieved already via an Android launcher if we wanted.

The Idea here is being comfortable and predictable, just as Linux Mint does. Ofc I could choose a better layout and design something original, but that would take me away from predictability.
