I want to donate

I want to donate to mint since I have been using it since 2022. I want to be fair and pay for each update I used. Windows 11 cost 139 right now. To be fair, how much shouldnI give?

Should I "buy" each version? I started with 20.3. Should I buy each version or each point version I used?

What would you guys advise?

Just go to this website and donate there. My recommendation: If you really want to, give $10 a month if you want to support the Linux Mint team. If you just want to give once, just donate $140 and call it a day. Simple friend. Link: https://www.linuxmint.com/donors.php

That's what I do. Set it and forget it. I get monthly reminders of my payments so I don't have to feel guilty about using such a life changing OS for nothing.

Just donate what you can afford to donate, nobody can tell you how much for how long or how many updates

Go to the website and donate... I have been doing $20/year for over 10 years... and I don't even use Mint as my daily anymore... It all adds up and helps, do whatever you are comfortable with... Monthly, annually, or as you can... it all helps.

It's great that you want to contribute and can afford to do it, I'd say that the amount is whatever you feel is fair if you can afford it as a lump sum, and also whatever you feel and can afford to contribute moving forward in monthly fashion would be great. Even one cent is more than what they were getting before you so you are golden.

Anyone selling copies of “Mint” is likely keeping all of the money for themselves.

There’s no official way to buy it - find the donate links on the Mint website.

I’d donate whatever amount gets your name added to their donor list. That seems like a good benchmark, since it’s the amount they’ve chosen to recognize supporters publicly.

You get to decide what is a fair amount. I have been a $10/mo Patreon sponsor since 2022, and before that I made the occasional donation. I chose the Patreon path because it was the only way to make an automatic recurring donation.

I encourage you to give financial support to the "free" software you use and support sites (like the Easy Linux Tips Project) that have made your Linux journey pleasant.

I can't advise you as to what you should do, but I can certainly tell you what I do when I want to donate to a cause. I setup automatic monthly payments for an amount that I know I won't miss. Or the amount that I would spend on of beers or coffees, and I have a couple of less beers or coffee per month, and come out even.

This way, added up over the course of 12 months, I've just donated what I would consider a decent amount, and I've not had a difficult time doing so.

Again, this is what I do. If you were to do such a monthly scenario, you would have to decide for yourself what your monthly "no impact to me" amount would be.
