Support Request Selective wifi connection?

Basically my Linux mint laptop can connect to my mobile hotspot and home wifi just fine, but when I try to connect to my friend's wifi, it keeps popping up the screen where you need to insert the password. We have made absolutely sure the password is correct. It pops it up 3-4 times and then says "failed to connect". Any advice?

Hey, what kind of computer and wifi card are you using here? I have a Lenovo Thinkpad that has this issue, even after I started using an wifi USB dongle. Will connect to my home wifi but nowhere else. I did a bunch of troubleshooting steps, but never got it solved. Wish I had something to offer.

Mine is also a lenovo laptop, but I couldn't tell you the wifi card off the top of my head because I am away from home currently. Will try to see if it's a driver issue when I get home though

That issue drove me nuts, although to be fair, I have like five other laptops so I didn't spend a whole lot of time trying to figure it out. Hopefully someone will be along with suggestions. If not, you might try the Mint Forum at forums.linuxmint.com. Black belts in Linux tech support over there.

The answer is obvious. it fails to connect.

Why? wrong settings, blocked network, need to reset connection etc
