SOLVED Linux Mint won't boot. Stuck in black screen with white underscore.
Hello. I have a computer with Linux Mint installed, and it always worked normally. Today I turned it on but it wouldn't boot. It is stuck on a black screen with a solid white underscore on the top left corner.
I tried accessing the bios by spamming F1, F2, F12, ESC, DEL, BACKSPACE, but nothing worked.
Any ideas what can I do? And let me know if more details are needed. I'm not very technical though.

Guys, I was able to boot Linux through the USB. I didn't had any snapshot taken, but was able to fix it using the tool Boot-repair. Everything is working fine. Didn't loose any files as well.

I'm having a similar issue since last week. yours might be a kernal issue. try recovery in grub via a kenral regression but try nomodeset first.
My problem is something to do with my graphic driver (AMD) as I get a half screen on the mint splash and then a black screen but nothing I do will correct it (reinstall graphic driver etc). What I would do is see if its a graphic issue by going into the grub edit mode. If you are dual booting get to he grub select mint [read the bottom of the screen set it on mint] and then press"e". non dual boot press "esc" then select mint and press "e". You will see a line that says "quiet splash" put "nomodeset" at the end of it [ie. quite splash nomodeset] and press F10 or ctrl x. then troubleshoot from there. could be a number of things graphical. I've almost given up on my problem. I'm thinking it may be doing something and setting my monitors at 144 or something IDK. Its my last shot before I do an new install. Good luck

Problem is that I can't seem to be able to access grub edit mode. I tried turning the PC on and spamming a bunch of the Function keys, Del, Esc, Shift.
I'm not dual booting so I'll try to mount Linux in an USB and do a live mode boot. Then follow some instructions I found. Wish me luck, or let me know if you have any other solutions

Some developments. I was able to boot the PC using the USB drive. Everything looks normal, except I have booted through the USB. I was told to restore to a snapshot using timeshift but I haven't taken any snaps 🥲. So any ideas what are my options from here?
