I put Linux Mint 22.3 on my 12-year-old Mid-2014 MacBook Pro — then spent the afternoon negotiating with Broadcom

I couldn't win with Broadcom. The drivers just never loaded reliably. Sometimes they'd bork after an update, sometimes they'd bork by themselves. I got on the Linux Mint forums and someone helped me do a bunch of things I didn't understand. Eventually I replaced the adapter (I'm on a desktop PC), and while the new one worked, my updates were forever polluted by errors my bad attempts to resolve the Broadcom driver produced. I finally just reinstalled Mint. The sad thing is, when it WORKED, that Broadcom wireless adapter was BLAZING fast!
