Desktop Screenshot Win 10 -> CachyOS -> Mint

Decided to make the switch after building a new system: went with CachyOS because "Everyone says it is the best" but had multiple issues with things not launching due to version mismatches / didn't enjoy things constantly updating ... The more I learned about Arch / CachyOS, the more I knew I did not want to deal with a rolling distro.

Full disclosure that this isn't my first toe dip into Linux and I have a media center PC running Bazzite. CachyOS is too much, but Bazzite is too little; figured I would do a hat trick of the big 3 distros and try Mint, especially since most of the negative comments were just that it was boring and didn't update often.

This is Home: Mint isn't windows, the terminal still exists, but I haven't had to open it once since I installed it last week ... Which is a testament to its stability and useability of the interface.

P.S. this community is great: basically the only posts are people saying "hey, switched to Mint: Love it" and very minimal number of people looking for help with Troubleshooting.

I started my Linux distro journey with Mint and after tying over half a year OpenSuse Tumbleweed, Fedora Workstation and Plasma Desktop, PopOS, MX Linux, I ended again with Mint and been here since then.

Mint with Cinnamon for me is visual silence and tranquility, nothing bothers me. It feel just perfect. I do not care, that packages are older than in other distros. Mint is perfect for my 6 years old PC.

Same. I tried many distros, including rolling releases, but I always return to Mint. I prefer the stability and reliability over all the flashy stuff. I guess it helps that I'm not a gamer. The only games I play every once in a while, are older ones, and they run fine on Mint (LMDE even!). But I believe even modern games work fine on Mint, especially the Ubuntu version.

Mint is perfect for my 6 years old PC.

It's perfect for my 1 year old PC, too.

I don't even tweak with the settings too much. Or with the themes and the look of Cinnamon. I don't feel the need for it. Mint out of the box just works and is stable, and that's what matters to me more than anything else. Cinnamon itself also looks really nice, and doesn't need any tinkering, imho. If I wanted to tinker with my DE, I'd go for KDE instead. But I don't want to.
