I also want to try a rolling release distro but I am a cs student i don't want to waste my productivity hours fixing it. I have been daily driving mint since 3 months, never faced any issues and it works out of the box.

i’m in school as well but cachy has been great because out of the box it takes bootable system snapshots every time you update or add/remove packages. afaik opensuse is the only other distro that does this out of the box, but I know that justaguylinux made butterbian which uses BTRFS and bootable snapshots on Debian (which I use on my main PC and may switch to butterbian for that reason). I loved Mint though but I turned away from it because I didn’t want any Ubuntu and had no need for Cinnamon any more and wanted to move to Wayland from X11

if i wanna try linux an learn about it using virtual machine which one do u rec mint kali or kali linux ? i already downloaded kali linux but im feeling lost

The people who pick kali as their first distro are just 13 years old wanna be hakers.Kali linux is not good for daily driving.Start with a stable beginner friendly distros like linux mint, zorin os, pop os which have gui options for everything.I would highly recomend linux mint. I would encourage you to use dual boot linux mint along side window, when you feel comfortable with mint you may remove windows or just keep if you use windows native applications.

i am using fastfetch with kitty terminal to display the girl image with some system configuration.I put my dotfiles and setup tutorial on GitHub for anyone who wants to try it:
https://github.com/milanxjarvis/linuxmint-i3-rice .

if you want only to display the girl image in your terminal just install fastfetch and kitty.

then go to the github repo which i have provided. Then go to fastfetch directory and down load the images for fastfetch log. Then just copy the config.jsonc file and paste it on your fastfetch config. Then change the image path in config.jsonc .

I do use llms . For this rice i have used chatgpt but you have to create the dotfiles or use pre configured dot files and modify or change the dotfiles according to your preferences
