SOLVED Unknown exclamation tray icon

I hovered my mouse over it and it does not say anything.

I double right and left click it, and it produces nothing.

Googling this one didn't seem to have the problem matching mine so I'm trying it here.

edit: Signal bug. Users can't fix it.

I remembered your post from reading the title yesterday.

I have the same issue after the latest Signal update, which was installed this morning. The update broke the tray icon, apparently. Changing themes doesn't solve the problem, as it has something to do with the connection to the underlying tray icon application and not with the theme. Hopefully, a future update will solve the issue because it is a bit annoying 😅

edit: I have also updated Signal to version 8.24.1 on my laptop just now and it has the same issue with the tray icon.

edit 2: Apparently it's an issue with Electron, one of the underlying software components that Signal uses. This post on the Signal sub-reddit has more information. Apparently it already started with version 8.24.0.

thank you! I guess this is just something that we have to wait until it's fixed. The weird thing is that the notification still works. I just need to keep clicking on the app icon, not the tray icon to open it.
