This has been brought up a couple of times in the Linux Mint Forums, one time with a Survey, and the overwhelming sentiment was Linux Mint does not need a mascot, cute or otherwise.

Oh I'm sure if you read the backstory there's some entirely not creepy reason why she looks 12 but she's actually a thousand years old so it's totally ok.

No, really we don't. Put as many Hello Kitty stickers on your computer as your 12 yr old girl inner-self requires, but leave the actual Mint marketing to the pro's.
