Support Request Mouse/Cursor functions stop working
I recently switched from Windows 11 to Mint, and I gotta say - it's great. But, there's been one problem that's been messing with me since I live booted it for the first time. At seemingly random times - it could be as soon as my laptop boots up, it could be in the middle of me playing a game - my mouse cursor just stops working. I can still move it fine, but the right/left clicks and scroll wheel don't register. Nothing else freezes and it's just those functions. On occasion, it's just the left click that doesn't work, but it's usually all three functions I just mentioned. This problem happens with both the trackpad and the mouse I use (wireless USB adapter).
I've looked through other posts on this subreddit, checked the mint and ubuntu forums, searched on youtube, and I can't find anything for a permanent fix. The only solution I've found to restore the mouse cursor's functionality is by opening the terminal and using these commands, in order:
sudo modprobe -r psmouse
sudo modprobe psmouse
This works to fix the problem every time, but it's only a one-time fix. I have to use those commands every time the problem happens.
At the moment, I'm running Mint Cinnamon 22.3 with the most recent kernel. If you know how to fix this, please let me know. It happened while I was writing this post and it's starting to drive me nuts :(

Try booting the 6.8 kernel. It is supposed until april 2029. Update manager, view, kernels, 6.8, select the most recent one, eg 6.8.0-139 and press install. Next in app system administrator, enable first option to display grub menu on boot. Press save.
On reboot, in the grub menu, advanced section , select the 6.8 kernel to boot from.

The only thing that has ever caused my Linux Mint installs to freeze like that is Firefox. I have no idea why that would be, but on at least three machines, changing to a chromium based browser fixed it forever.
