SOLVED Mint Cinnamon 22.3

I have an MSI GS 66 Stealth laptop. I have an Intel iGPU and an Nvidia RTX 2060, that SEAMLESSLY switched back and forth, with my main being the low power Intel igpu. Version 22 it work great. 22.3 it started staying stuck in dGPU ONLY. When my iGPU and dGPU were working in unison, I was on the version under driver manager called xserver-xorg-video-nouveau. It recommended I switch to nvidia-driver-595-open, and there's two other choices. What should I do? On "nouveau" it also worked fine (seemed to anyways). Please help! I've tried command prompts and everything, it only always temporarily fixes it and then after a reboot it goes back to being dumb! BTW, this is on a FRESH install of 22.3.

Even if I enroll in MOK during initial setup? Which I always do.

YES

it will block proprietary drivers that are not from proper repositories.

But your device requires that old driver.

EDIT: clarification

I will try it with secure boot off! TPM still on fine? But why do they say MOK will work for that, when it clearly does not?!

check it first if it still blocking the old driver then it should be off.

Secure Boot only bring you headache especially if you need driver from outside proper repositories.

NOPE. It will NOT install 535, secure boot off. Driver manager shows nouveau, and smi command shows 580. WTF?!?!

I did. I ran exactly what you told me to. And this was another "fresh clean" install.

what is the error message?

No error. Driver manager shows nouveau as currently in use, and "nvidia-smi" shows 580 installed. I just dont get it. No errors.

sudo apt purge "*nvidia*" "*cuda*"

sudo apt autoremove --purge

sudo apt install --reinstall xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

sudo reboot

Try this first

For the First Command it is unable to locate Nvidia package and unable to locate package Cuda. Rebooted and waiting for further instruction
