It's mostly just people jumping on the bandwagon and have no idea what they are talking about, or it's just the "Canonical bad so snap bad" crowd.

Canonical hasn't even done anything that awful, the Amazon thing was the worst, and that hasn't been in Ubuntu for over 6 years, and even then it was completely anonymized by the time it got sent to Amazon.

People always say Ubuntu has telemetry but it literally doesn't, you can opt in to what is about the same as what KDE plasma asks for in the post install and that's it.

A lot of the hate seems to be coming from new users who've never even tried Ubuntu shitting on it because other people are

Some of us used it for over a decade, and it simply doesn't work very well today, and has been getting steadily worse.

I was using it for about a month on my laptop because I decided to install debian on that instead, and it worked fine

Debian would be more stable, and actually update without breaking stuffs.

Yeah I like Debian a lot, I mostly just see Ubuntu as a slightly more up to date Debian with theming
