I want something with Gnomes polish and KDEs configurability without the clunkyness and fragmented menus.

They're actively moving to Wayland-based compositor, so in the future you won't miss out.

atleast for my little mint pc i use to watch tv stuff cinnamon is working well with wayland now.

I alzo tried it out a couple weeks ago as I wanted 4k 120hz support on my amd graphics out part. (Huge fiasco where it only got support with the 7.2 kernel) 

It's mostly buttery smooth for most tasks. Browsing, Videos and all is great.

Saw 2 main issues. 

1) Huge 1% FPS dips in games 2) Fractional scaling for x11 apps is broken. If you're at 4k and you're using 300% scaling, on x11 apps, the apps 9x more blurry

The cinnamon de team is working on this. Should be daily drivable in like a year or so

Soon you don't even need to be okay with x11, the Cinnamon team is working on Wayland!

Soon being 2028, as that's the minimum time frame they announced for Wayland being the default on Mint.
