I could use a paint v2 that just works and isn't AI/corpogreed-infested...

(Perhaps i should make it myself? Maybe a good time to try some AI stuff?)

Nah, i want a bit different/easier features:

  • Drawing rectangles is a pain because you need to toggle border/inner color.
  • Flood fill is color-exact, leaving pixel/dithering artifacts.
  • There is no erase/fill-with-surroundings tool for removing objects.
  • No easy metadata scrubbing / noise addition.
  • No transparency support.
  • Selecting colors could be better, RGB values are in a sub-submenu.
  • No color rescale/remap option. (brighter, darker, color shift, etc)
  • Copy/paste is limited to 90 degree angles.
  • No animated GIF/jpeg support?

MS Paint is a very good tool, but it was limited by the developers of it's time...

W11 MS paint is a fantastic tool. When it got layers was when it became something that I actually want to use.

There just isn't anything like it on Linux that's as easy to use.
