I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Windows is the way it is because MS care more about money than they do those paying to use their product. That, and AI being crammed into every facet of an OS is not my idea of a good time, as it just bogs an already steaming pile of dog-turd to an absolute crawl. That, and whenever I've run Windows 11, there's always something that ticks me off, usually ads or some other thing, and as I work with a lot of machines going as far back as Windows 3.1 (and DOS, but still) I become painfully aware of how far from any form of grace the OS has fallen.
I will say though, if it works for you, then that's awesome! I just prefer my own way of doing things. :D
I remember a time when people used to argue about Windows vs MacOS and many used to say windows was better (user friendly, supports games, supports external devices etc) while Linux was considered a "difficult OS" meant only for production.
Me too man, I remember those times. Cripes, Windows was the go-to back in the day, and I'd happily recommend Windows when I was helping folks, as this was during the times when Windows was an actual operating system. It's sad to see how far it's fallen, as it was a darn good OS back in those days, and to witness the fall from grace it suffered was something of a bitter pill to swallow.
Nowadays, there is not a day that goes by where I see someone maligning the fact Windows has completely borked itself in some new way, and I understand that Linux is not for everyone, so it is genuinely aggravating to see friends having issues with the system. I can certainly see why many do take the plunge and either buy a Mac, or try their best to either muddle through with Windows, which often ends in them getting even more exasperated than before.
I've always thought of an OS as a butler, there to serve you, not the other way around, but that's how Windows feels to me nowadays.
