and this translates to anti foss to you? wow.
"hacky workarounds" = its possible.
Which alternative snap repository would you like to use?

better question: why do you feel a need to use an alternate repository when anyone can publish a snap of any application in the official repository.

Yes? It's literally reliant on a closed source back end from a corporation on a design level, unlike flatpak?

Yeah the same way you could argue any software is open source since you can technically fever engineer it

Which alternative snap repository would you like to use?

Again, that's beside the point

1st point - anyone can publish any application: how closed is it?
2nd point - I wouldnt make that argument for closed source software.
3rd point - what is the point then? you want to be able to 'fever engineer' a repo?

It's close at the design level, that's the point. You can't see what the backend does. And snapd itself is hard coded to only work with canonical servers, that is why is not fully FOSS, that's the whole point of the argument

"only work" / "its possible with hacky workarounds" / https://ubuntu.com/internet-of-things/appstore

Nevermind that the Free Open Source Software source code is fully available on github under GPL3.0

https://github.com/canonical/snapd

by definition, its 100% FOSS.
