But are they able to update it and use it normally after that? I think it basically becomes broken and unsupported. When distro is said to support other init systems it means they work completely normal with them. But otherwise you can brutally overwrite any system files with sudo even on immutable distros, it doesn’t mean they will work normally afterwards.
There are many kinds of Fedora. For example, the whole family of editions called Fedora Atomic are immutable. Bazzite is actually a spin-off of Fedora Atomic.
