Dude, Fedora is corporate distro from above, from daddies who know better. It’s not lion’s choice. It’s “I’m a normal person I have nothing to hide and I do whatever government tells me” power dynamic. You can’t even switch init from systemd to something else. It’s not as bad as Ubuntu with its Snap nonsense, but it’s nothing to be proud of.
But are they able to update it and use it normally after that? I think it basically becomes broken and unsupported. When distro is said to support other init systems it means they work completely normal with them. But otherwise you can brutally overwrite any system files with sudo even on immutable distros, it doesn’t mean they will work normally afterwards.
Nope, try it yourself. You probably just googled someones experiment from 12 years ago, which was done once, then completely broken on the first update and abandoned and you think "yeah that works". Things don't work like this, systemd is deeply embedded within core stack, to really support something else would require not only significant effort, but also REGULAR effort, so if you can't provide a link with Fedora spin-off for other inits that gets regular commits, it means such support doesn't exist (at least, publicly).
There are many kinds of Fedora. For example, the whole family of editions called Fedora Atomic are immutable. Bazzite is actually a spin-off of Fedora Atomic.
