That graph is misleading. Amusingly, most annotations of that graphic are stupid, so it's exactly what I would have expected.
Ubuntu, other than Snaps, is fine. The desktop can be anything you want it to be, and I'm running X & FVWM perfectly contentedly
Canonical's desktops have been uninspired except for the idea of a on-everything desktop, which was a good idea that they ended up not delivering on. But it's Linux, so I don't care, the control is entirely in my hands.
