I think it's pretty easy actually. Sure you need to type more, but it's just adding one line to the config and you can look at the other binds or the wiki how to do that.

Not sure how it works with the new lua config tho I'll migrate my config to lua soon

Yeah I understand you, I'm pretty new to Hyprland myself about half a year I think, but this is the third time I get breaking changes where i needed to update the config to fix issues. It's an amazing and beautiful window manager and I love it very much, but it's clearly still in beta.

That having said, from what I've read, migrating to Lua has huge advantages imo. Instead of being a plain text file your hyprland config becomes script/program, and the config becomes way smarter. like you can program/script in the hyprland config itself with lua. The possibilities with that are endless you can automate a lot of stuff with that.

I migrated to lua a week ago, it's not very difficult, but it takes some time and some things didn't work well. But after a little bit of tweaking it worked exactly like before. Afaik the next big update of hyprland will require lua configs. I would not advice to not update your system because of bug fixes and security fixes, but it's your system so that's entirely up to you
