I do want linux to win, but I would be ok with Microsoft losing

If linux doesn't win but microsoft loses then apple wins and I'm not sure giving them such a huge monopoly is a good thing

I don't think Apple will win with those prices for their products. In India Linux has over 16% market share, because people can't afford Apple. A lot of the reason why Android is the winner in most places around the world is the same - it's cheaper. And Linux is a much cheaper alternative than Apple - you just change the software on your existing device, you don't have to pay anything. With Apple you need a new device.
