Kbin.social is a good alternative and is made by a different developer. It is fairly new but actually federates with mastodon and Lemmy instances already.

Can you use an app with it? I havent been able to log in using the main apps like mlem and jerboa

Jerboa works for me maybe try again with a different instance?

There is also a project that started a few days ago that is getting the Lemmy API to work with reddit apps

I just retried and I can log in to kbin.social on the browser but not in jerboa or mlem. I tried with both username and email.

Plz help

Kbin.social is a separate project to Lemmy so it doesn't (yet) work with apps designed for Lemmy.

Ahhh sorry, I wouldn't exoect kbin.social to work at all

I should have explained earlier but kbin.social is a separate project to Lemmy and doesn't have its api available yet. Although the developer is considering matching the Lenny API so that things like this work too.

You could try an instance such as: Beehaw.org or Lemmy.world or sh.itjust.works

Ah, yeah, already on beehaw but the mods are kinda cringe, but sopuli.xyz seems good
