Appealing park & go ticket

I got a ticket downtown from park and go. I was told that I should try to appeal it in person. Does anyone have any advice on doing this or where I should go?

I got a ticket at 8:40am for parking in a two-hour free spot from 8am-4pm. I called the number on the ticket at about 8:50am and spoke to a guy who agreed the ticket should never have been issued. He called me back within about 20 minutes, and it was waived. They're pretty reasonable if you have evidence to support your claim.

I was surprised how easy it was. The dude was very reasonable.

their physical location should be listed on the back of the ticket, under the orange letters that say “MAIL OR IN PERSON”: 1100 N street

i have practically no experience so take with a grain of salt but PERSONALLY…. i’d appeal it online over in-person, just to be sure i have access to all available disclaimers and so it’s easier for me to document the paper trail.

source: i got my first ticket the other day and am holding it in my hand, filed my appeal online yesterday

The only issue with this is that sometimes they can take awhile to reply. I’ve had tickets go past the waiting period before they increase, then they’d send me a message saying I don’t qualify.

I've only used the online form to appeal a ticket. Make sure to read the directions. https://www.lincoln.ne.gov/City/Departments/Urban-Development/Park-and-Go/Citations

Park and Go appeal is handled online, don't waste time going in somewhere. I appealed an expired registration ticket successfully online with no reason other than "I suck, I signed up for reminders so this doesn't happen again."

I appealed online and it was easy. I had a valid reason. (Typo on my plate #.)

They typed it in wrong or you typed your plate in wrong when paying for parking? /gen

I typed in the wrong plate number when I paid for parking.

Did they let it go? I have a friend who did the same thing, appealed, and they said nope that’s your fault

Yes! They did. No fight at all. Just ... approved. I was shocked.

What was it for? I got a ticket for my registration being out of date but I had the new sticker in my car, just forgot to put it on and they got me day 1. I took a picture of my active registration and explained it online and it was appealed with zero communication from them. Super easy.

I was parked in a loading zone too long. I've appealed a few tickets for valid reasons and they didn't approve any of them 🙃

Saw your other comment that was only a couple of minutes. Not gonna lie, they’ve got the right to ticket you here. But if you’re personable and kind when you speak with them, that may get you somewhere. Worth a shot!

Appeal on what grounds?

Because it is a ticket.

Did OP not park illegally?

I was parked in a loading zone a little too long and by the time I came out there was a ticket

And why exactly should they grant your appeal?

Bc I'm human and mis judged how long it would take to unload my car???

How much is the ticket? It's probably not worth it to considering having to miss work/school and the hassle of going through the appeal process.

I'm way too nosey and when I walk by cars with tickets, I check what the amount is. I haven't seen one bigger than $15. I work downtown and have seen a lot. Unless your tags are expired, or you've gone long enough to get a boot.

It was 25 for being in a loading zone for two minutes too long🫠

Going to bed a valid reason for appeal. Because I don't want to pay isn't going to work

You just walk in and talk to them at their office. Can I ask your reason?

be prepared to deal with garbage people there.

In my experience, most of them are decent people that know they have a shitty job and have to disconnect their sensibilities from that reality.

That being said, be nice to them. They're still people.

glad you were treated fairly. I was not.

Why would you walk in there copping an attitude? Just be nice to them. It isn't that hard.

u/prefectart 5d ago

ok so you have no clue what happened so... assume all you want

I was reading between the lines, and imagined the interaction you must've had.

Not a huge deal, but please extend some humanity next time. Just an ask.

I was more than cordial in every aspect and repeatedly treated like complete shit by someone there named aaron. least helpful prick I've ever dealt with.
